New Research—methane emissions from uncontrolled storage tanks and compressor engine slips

The BC OGRIS is providing grants to Montrose Environmental Group, Ltd. to undertake two research projects on methane emissions. The first project will assess current techniques for determining methane emissions from uncontrolled storage tanks and conduct a representative field survey in order to calculate an average uncontrolled storage tank emission factor for B.C. The second project will assess alternative compressor engine slip measurement technologies to validate the efficacy and accuracy of measurements under each technology.

Results of both studies are anticipated by the Fall of 2025.
