New Research—extensions to the NEBC Velocity Model

The BC OGRIS has provided a grant to Nanometrics, Inc. to extend the velocity model for NEBC. The extensions will aim to create a higher resolution 3D velocity model that reflects the subsurface properties within the Northeast British Columbia region. This will provide additional information for estimating the hazards and risks due to natural and induced seismicity and enhancing the determination of earthquake locations and magnitudes.
