The final report from the BC OGRIS funded project to develop a velocity model for aiding the location of earthquakes in the Northeast British Columbia region is now available in the Seismicity section of the Completed Projects page. The goal of the project, undertaken by Nanometrics, Inc., was to create a higher resolution 3D velocity model that accurately reflects the subsurface properties within the Northeast British Columbia region. Additionally, a 1D velocity model was extracted by averaging the 3D model across the study area.

The model will enhance the understanding of subsurface velocity distribution and aid in the location of natural and induced seismicity.
