Final Report— Earthquake Magnitude-Frequency Relationship due to Fluid Injection in B.C.

The final report from the BC OGRIS funded investigation into induced seismicity associated with hydraulic fracturing operations in the South Montney Plan of northeastern British Columbia is now available in the Seismicity section of the Completed Projects page. The project, jointly undertaken by the Geological Survey of Canada and the University of Victoria, involved analyzing seismic events and hydraulic fracturing data from January 2017 to August 2023.

The findings will contribute to a better understanding of the spatial variability of induced seismicity within the South Montney Play and aid in identifying areas with higher risk of induced seismic events.
